Equine Herpesvirus (EHV) Vaccination: We highly recommend Flu/Rhino boosters for horses at all boarding facilities, horses that are exposed to new horses (frequently and infrequently), and horses that are still showing and traveling. West Nile Virus (WNV) & Encephalitis (EEE) Vaccination: We also highly recommend EWT/West Nile boosters for horses that received their spring EWT/WN vaccination before May 1st. If your horse received EWT/WN after May 1st, you are still welcome to re-vaccinate this fall, especially if you are in an area with higher mosquito populations. Fall Fecal Testing: If you signed up for our 2015 Strategic DeWorming Program this spring, don't forget to drop off your fall fecal samples in October and November! Please call first and remember we need fresh samples. If you did not sign up for the Strategic DeWorming Program, you are still welcome to submit a fecal sample for testing. If you are not sure what your animals are due for, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help you! Contact us at 508-923-3422 to schedule your appointments today! Happy New Year! Christmas Office Hours: Wednesday, December 24th – 8:30 to noon Thursday, December 25th – closed Friday, December 26th – closed Thermometers! Every horse owner and farm should have at least one – I have one tucked in my grooming bag! If you own a horse, we highly suggest you invest $5.00 in a thermometer. Taking a horse's temperature may seem like a minor thing, but something so simple can give A LOT of information to the veterinarian and can help them treat the animals properly. For example: Did you know that a horse with a mild colic can look exactly like a horse with a fever?? Both may respond to oral NSAIDS (ie. Banamine), but if you don’t take a temperature you won’t know what you treated! So, if something doesn’t seem right, take the temperature AND call the vet, and NEVER administer medications without talking to the vet first! p.s. The “normal” temperature range for a horse is between 98.5°F and 101°F For Emergencies or Urgent Situations During the Holidays/Weekends:
